Hey,

I am mid 30's and getting married next April. My fiance and are in the process of planning to get pregnant at some point in the next couple of years.
I am on meflynate xl for adhd
Citalopram and quietapine for severe anxiety and depression

I need my meds to keep me on an even keel and well as I have unfortunately overdosed a few times in the past due to mental health struggles

I don't want to do anything that could harm the potential baby and just wondered if anyone else has been in a similar situation and what was decided.

When we have more of an idea I will obviously go to the doctors. First to get my coil out and also to have a discussion about meds.

Anyway thank you in advance :)

Hi OP I work in a perinatal mental health team. In regards to taking medication in pregnancy it is aways a balance of benefits vs risk. Lots of woman continuing to take medications - quetiapine and citalopram in pregnancy as the risk of becoming unwell sometimes is far greater than the risks of taking them. You can get a referral from your GP to your local perinatal team who can offer pre conception advice based the medication you are on and your mental health history. If you are already under a mental health team they can also refer you. I myself suffer with GAD and took sertraline throughout one of my pregnancies. For the ADHD medication you may need to consult with a ADHD specialist to look at this.

please consult with your GP though when you decide the time is right
Hope this helps

Thank you so much for this :)
I didn't even know there was a perinatal mental heath team:)

I will definitely be discussing with my GP and I am hoping to be referred back to the mental health team as we have recently moved from England to Wales so waiting for all my notes to go through
