PIP decision

Babyaj2k11 · 09/02/2025 19:02

Hi all, I've had my assessment for pip last week, it was a trainee so she said it would take longer and have to be checked by her boss. So I still haven't had the text to say dwp has received it which means I can't yet request a copy.
I'm so anxious about getting denied and having to go through tribunal etc
I suffer severe OCD and have done since childhood, as long as I can't remember. Never claimed anything for it as never thought I would qualify, also means I don't work. Last at universal credit suggested me claiming so I gave it a go, now I'm just so anxious and second guessing everything I said to them. The assessment itself was as awful as I expected, they last was nice but I just ended up in tears when describing how it affects me, and how long it's had a hold of my life. It really hit me that this is all I have ever known, and I haven't lived a normal life. I don't go out, socialize, work or even just walk down the street.
Has anybody else claimed pip for OCD? What was the outcome?
TIA

Thankyou, judging from what the pip advisor about has said I am very doubtful. It's been really stressful time also due to be homeless if I don't get an offer from the council soon. Really tough time at the moment x

So sorry to hear you might soon be homeless, you must be so stressed. I don't think you can assume you won't get PIP based on what an advisor on here might say as they obviously weren't at your assessment so won't know all the details of what happened and what you said or what evidence you might have. Please stay hopeful and don't give up if you feel you should be able to claim it. Get some advice in person if possible from CAB or an advocate if you can get access to one through mental health team. Try and get help from wherever you can as it's such a stressful process.
I really hope things work out with getting a home also, I really feel for you.

Thank you, it's been a really tough time 😞 I will speak to my therapist on my next appointment, it's NHS therapy so hopefully she will be able to put me onto someone who can help xx

Thankyou, the report they send out to you, is it just notes of what you discussed or does it have recommended points on it? X

Hi,

Just thought I'd update from my side.

I had a text to say I've been awarded PIP and to wait for the letter.

The backpay has gone into my account, and based on the amount, I think I've been awarded High Daily Living and Low Mobility, but I'll have to wait for the letter to be 100%.

Good Luck OP. I hope you also get a good outcome xxx

That's amazing, really happy for you, how long between assessment and the award text for you? Did you request a copy of the report off of them? Xx

I had my assessment via phone about two weeks ago.

I got a text the very next day to say they'd receive the assessment report, and they'd get in contact once they made a decision.

Then, a week later, a text saying awarded x

Hi everyone I've just received my pip report and from what I can work out I scored 8 points on daily living and 10 points on mobility. So pleased that the assessor wrote down everything we discussed and was all as I remember. Not a decision but at least I know that the information they have is correct. Not sure how the points actually work but will see what happens x

10 means you get standard rate. So if you got 10 in both, you will get standard rate in both

Ah right ok, I know it is down to the descion maker not the assessor but I'm thankful that they recommend what they did as I was thinking o would get barely any points x

Thankyou. I think just the acknowledgement of my struggles by the assessor has really made me feel better about the situation, I've read so many posts about peoples reports not reflecting the assessment that I was worried I'd gone through it all and opened up to someone who wasn't even trying to understand. But in my case she has reported exactly what we discussed and seems so have a lot of understanding and empathy so I'm really greatful for that. Hoping that the descion maker agrees and I hear something soon x

Yes my report didn't reflect what I'd said at all, there were outright lies in it but luckily they reconsidered it and awarded it to me. I really think you will get your award for both daily living and mobility and I'm so pleased for you. Let us know when you get confirmation x

Sorry yours went like that but pleased for you that you got it sorted in the end. I will definitely let you all know when I get a descion xx

Thankyou for that. I don't cook at all due to the washing cleaning side of things, but mainly because I would worry and panic too much about the cooker being left on or a gas leak, I haven't cooked a meal the whole time I've lived in this house, which is 6 years, the most I would do is maybe a microwave meal, I told her this.
Also I have trouble taking my medicine as I worry that I have took too many (convince myself of the fact) so my husband has to actually tell me to take them and watch me.
She did ask me what symptoms I get when I have to go out on the rare occasion and I told her it is a full panic attack, shortness of breath, tingling hands and feel dizziness etc.

If you told the assessor you sometimes microwave a meal I think that might count as you can manage to cook a simple meal so might not get many points in that section.

Ah right ok, the assessor marked it as only being able to cook with microwave and awarded points but I won't know until I get my letter x

@Babyaj2k11 So pleased you have been awarded PIP. Please can you let us know exactly what you have been awarded when you know, as you sound very similar to my husband and we are currently waiting for the results of his PIP review.

loveforautumn · 03/03/2025 13:30

I'm still waiting on my sons pip letter. I had a phone call assessment with them on the 21st of January, had a letter saying they have all the info they need for pip and I don't need to do anything else. It seems to be taking a long time.
Pleased you got yours sorted OP

Yes the process really does seem to take a long time, made worse by the fact that your anxious about the decision. I hope your son gets a good decision and soon x
