Dad with depression - how to support the children

My husband is currently suffering from severe depression, which is impacting every aspect of his life. Depression and anxiety and associated complex symptoms are very much part of his life, but right now things are especially bad.

He is trying to get the support he needs to recover and I’m doing my best to help too.

We have two children, 10 and 14. Can anyone suggest any resources to support them, which explain depression / breakdowns in an age-appropriate way?

Many thanks

Would it possible to alert their school of the situation at home so they can support them through this too and perhaps point you towards organisations that may be able to help you all through this? Or perhaps your GP service if school feels too close to home?

A private clinical psychologist would be the best thing if you can afford it, and a blood test at the GP surgery to check for anaemia. And a long holiday.
