Teen DD Lying about Eating

DD (Year 12) has just told me that she throws her lunch away every day.

She is struggling with an eating disorder and has for about year. She's on various waiting lists for help.

Any advice as to how I can ensure that she eats her lunch at school? DH and I can't go there every day at lunchtime because we both work in different towns.

Thank you

Have you spoken to the school about it? I’m not sure what you can do.

Maybe making her a salad or something she feels ok with (yogurt, fruit etc) might help. Then try and encourage more calories at dinner?

Is she very small?

How is this lying? Do you mean you think she is eating it and pretending not to in her announcement or she's never let on before?

Ask her what she would eat.
would she have a milkshake or similar?

She has lied that she has been eating it, and just told OP she has been throwing at away

Bless her. How worrying for you. I’d say it’s a good sign that she’s admitted to binning it. Gives you a chance to talk to her about if she feels there’s anything she would eat.

If she hasn't already had one done, ask school to put in a Camhs referral. In my experience they work very quickly to see people who talk in terms of eating disorders.

Hiya my 11 year old son was doing this at school no matter how many times asked teacher to keep an eye on. He now has a bad ed disorder which we are getting help for. I would go to doctors and ask to be referd to eatting disorder team as cahms would not see him for eatting disorder as apparently they don't deal with them. Also there is a book called bite sized me by eva musby defiantly recommend the read. I'm here if you need a chat as I no how you feel it's hurts so bad knowing your child is poorly and you can't make them better straight away x
