Hi everyone, I started Vortioxetine 3 weeks ago at 10mg for pnd. Citalopram and Venlaflaxine didn’t help. I know it takes a few weeks for anti d’s to kick in but wouldn’t I be seeing some improvement by now or am I being impatient?! 18 months postpartum so feels never ending. Thanks in advance 🙂

Honestly, yes you should be feeling at least slightly brighter by now if you have been taking a therapeutic dose for three weeks. If you started at a very low dose and are gradually working your way up to a stable dose then you might need to wait until you are at the full dose. You've put in this much time so you may as well give it another week or two but I would at least ask the doctor if you can try a higher dose.

It works very quickly for me. Within a week.

It's probably worth going back to the doctor & review the diagnosis. It could be more psychological issues adjusting to changes after the birth rather than clinical depression, in which case identifying support you need to cope & counseling or CBT might be a better option.

Doctors tend to label anything & everything psychological as 'depression' when usually it's more complex coping & emotional regulation problems that don't respond to medication.

Thanks both, the psychiatrist won’t increase until 4 weeks on this dose and then 4 weeks on the next dose etc etc.
I've been having counselling for a few months, exercise and little one is now at nursery 3 days per week so feel something should be shifting and it’s just not. Thank you x
