What's going on?

Dementia is more than just mood .
I think a memory clinic assessment would be the best place to be referred to if your gp thinks it’s needed .

Unlikely. Do you take antidepressants? You really must see your GP. Only venlafaxine ever worked for me. Yes there are side effects but well worth it.

Dementia has a specific assessment so you can ask for that. My Dad had a mini one done in a GP appointment before being referred for a full Dementia assessment.

However, if you are depressed you may just be anxious about allsorts, with your health being one of those worries.

I saw the GP today as my memory is shot and we have a family history of early onset dementia. She did a memory test and I was fine so she thinks its the burnout / brain fog of untreated depression. This most recent bout started 9 months ago and I wanted to avoid ADs as have struggled to come off them in the past. I have been prescibed low dose 37.5 venlafaxine which I have been on in the past - cant remember the impact but do remember the brain zaps which went on for years (intermittently). So feeling relieved now. Thanks for your messages.

Have you had your b12 tested? Low b12 can cause depression, memory issues and brain fog x

Venafalaxine worked for me but side effects (wiped ) meant I had to stop

I also remember brain fog on them which was unsettling
