Hypnotherapy or Acupuncture

I’m looking for recommendations on either of the above as forms of treatment for stress. Due to a family situation outside of my control this past year has left me completely on edge all the time. Even when I'm not needed I can’t switch off or relax. I feel like I’m waiting for the next crisis/ interruption. It’s now starting to affect my sleep so I’m looking at alternative therapies.

I read that acupuncture can be a good way to re-set the nervous system and stop the fight or flight response. However, I’m not sure if hypnotherapy may be the better option if it could possibly address the root cause of why I have this persistent reaction in the first place?

Any advice welcome

I had a breakdown 8 years ago and was very keen to try different therapies looking for a fix.

I had acupuncture a few times but didn't notice any improvement.

I tried hypnotherapy with one woman and didn't notice anything different. I went to another and after the first session I could tell the difference. She was amazing.

CBT, mindfulness, yoga ,EMDR and meditation all helped too.

I also tried reiki which did not help.

Is the situation over or ongoing? You seem to have identified the source of your stress. Do you have friends and family to talk it out with?
For the on edge feeling, try massage, as we hold our stress in the muscles.
Best wishes.

Thank you both. The situation isn’t over but I have distanced myself from it somewhat. It’s helped but it doesn’t take much for me to feel on edge again. I will try CBT again, it has helped in the past but given the wait times I was just hoping to try something that might deal with the physical effects in the interim.

I’ve always been too embarrassed to try a yoga class as I’m so unfit & inflexible but I’ll give it a go. Massage is a good one too. I hadn’t really considered that.
