My husband has always struggled with his mental health on and off but has always been able to manage it. In August he had a particularly bad episode and accepted help, he was given 50mg of Sertraline and Propranolol for anxiety and panic attacks. I had to ring the doctor for him and I sort the prescriptions.
He initially picked up a little, he could function and manage with every day tasks and was still going to work every day but then his mood seemed to dip again. I contacted the dr and they upped his dose to 100mg. He started this a week ago and has been the worst I’ve seen him since. For the first time in his life he has missed work and stays in bed all day. He said it feels like he just needs to sleep and has no motivation or energy.
Does Anyone have experience of this? Is it normal when upping a dose?
Also anyone with experience- when he is in bed should I insist he gets up for a bit? Or let him rest? I don’t know what to do for the best. We have two young children so it’s difficult for me.
Any advice appreciated
