I have been under cmht for eleven years. Last three years I have been stable. No issues. I saw psychiatrist today for five minutes because there were no problems. At the end he said see you next time. I have been seen every six months. I wonder when they discharge me because there really haven't been any need to see him for last three years. I consider myself as recovered.

I suppose it would depend on your diagnosis, what medication you’re on, if any, and just how ill you’ve been in the past. Maybe you can ask that question at your next appointment.

My Mum has never been discharged - I won’t disclose her condition - and she’s been stable for about 20 years now.

I was discharged after 6 months (having been sectioned with hypomania and diagnosed with bipolar). I actually found it a challenge being discharged, as I need regular blood tests for the meds I’m on and also when I felt off kilter, my GP wasn’t willing to look at adjusting my meds. So I’ve requested to be kept under CMHT care for now and have the six month reviews. Helps with DVLA forms and if I need to speak to someone I can call them direct.

My diagnosis has changed a lot. Now it's schizophrenia NOS. I have been stable for three years and have always taken my meds. I am really annoyed of blood tests every three months for lithium. I just can't be bothered anymore to go to blood tests or appointments

I’m on lithium too. The blood tests are crucial. Lithium has been an amazing medication for me but the potential risks need close monitoring.

Great you’ve so stable.
