Hi,

So after battling with anxiety on and off for years, also trying sertraline in 2022 the GP has now given me 10mg citalopram to try. I remember feeling awful the first couple of weeks on sertraline back then, can anyone offer me any reassurance or experiences when starting citalopram as I’m feeling extremely anxious? I’ve taken my first one this morning. Thank you!

I took escitalopram and didn't have any bad side effects like nausea

Good luck, I hope it works for you.

dont feel disheartened if it doesnt work straight away, these things take time.
simultaneously dont hesitate on contacting your GP for a review if you need to

Hi @LWestYorks I went on to Citalopram earlier this year and was similarly nervous. I did feel a little worse to begin with but that soon went away and it has helped. Just take it a day at a time, and I remember it helped me to remind myself that any increase in anxiety was likely related to the meds and would pass.
