Experiences of increasing sertraline

Hello

I have OCD, anxiety and depression which have been well managed with 150mg sertraline for the last ten years. I recently had some serious relationship issues that have absolutely floored me. I was trying to just carry on but I started to experience a lot of my old OCD symptoms (intusive thoughts mainly) and my anxiety levels have become almost crippling. My GP has been amazingly supportive and we decided last week to increase my dose to 200mg.

I was hoping someone could share their experiences of being well for a long time, then not being well and increasing the dose. How long did it take before you could feel the effects of the medication?

I've been assessed for counselling to help with the relationship issue so waiting for an appointment and I've had CBT in the past which was really helpful.

Thanks very much.

Hi. I was on 200mg and it worked really well for me. It took about 2 weeks to kick in if I remember correctly.
Annoyingly last time I was in hospital they reduced it to 150mg and my symptoms are back a little. I’m seeing my psych in a week or so to ask for the increase again.

I was on 200mg for about 3 years, including pregnancy and post-partum. I went up to 200mg fairly quickly and was settled on that dose for quite a while. Eventually I had to go a bit higher (250mg) and got some side effects which never went away so I came off it. 200mg was definitely the sweet spot!

Thank you both. I hope 200mg is just what I need.
