Hi, just looking for some support. My Sertraline was increased from 100mg to 200mg 6 weeks ago. I've had a few odd days in the past 2 weeks of less anxiety but i was hoping to see much more improvement. I feel quite desperate. Any thoughts will be much appreciated x

Are you doing any therapy alongside or is it not for you?

Weym2023 · 30/11/2024 14:17

It's for myself. Yes i've had wellbeing help from my surgery and i'm waiting for a referral to Mind.

I’m sorry to hear that. I am on sertraline but found I got too drowsy on the increased doses and so am down again to 50mg. I would say I maybe felt less anxious but I just slept all the time. Is it both anxiety and depression you are feeling?
Are you doing anything alongside the medication? CBT, exercise, change in diet or anything?

Also have you tried any other medications out of curiosity? Different medications seem to do wonders for different people.

sorry this isn’t much help, but you are not alone x

Depending on where you live, there are some options called something like ‘time to talk’. I don’t know if it’s just London though, but you can self-refer.

I was taking Olanzapine but it was raising my cholesterol so had to stop. Sertraline doesn't make me drowsy at all. I wish it did especially at night. Thank you for replying

I tried i-talk last year but i'm better with face to face. Its severe anxiety not depression. I just want to feel some peace

Go back to your doctor if you are feeling desperate. Those are the times they are there for. Xxx

@Weym2023 how did the GP appt go?

Weym2023 · 05/12/2024 07:31

@pigear , the psychiatrist has decided to change antidepressant to Duloxetine. I have to half Sertraline for a week and then do a direct swap. I came away feeling slightly wary but since then i've panicked with the suggested process. I've emailed his secretary saying i'm concerned about withdrawal symptoms so hoping to get some contact asap. Its a nightmare.

It is so hard, I'm sorry you are now even more stressed out. I really hope they are able to provide more info about their recommendation and why it will be ok or make a change so that is slower.

Its horrible feeling so anxious all the time.

Handhold here. Take it easy - it will get better - promise!!
