Citalopram Day 14

I started Citalopram 2 weeks ago, I had all the side effects: nausea, insomnia, panic attacks, increased anxiety, increased depression so on. I’ve been sofa bound and not well at all.

Now most of those have gone, I’m still stuck with this Adrenalin rush like anxiety feeling and feeling of panic, like I can’t do anything taking my time or calmly. It feels as though I’m in fight or flight all the time. Surely this would have subsided by now?

I feel as though I haven’t eaten, that type of weakness, but I have been, is this normal?

What dose are you on. I found two weeks showed a decent improvement, but with doctors advise upped my dose over next 4 weeks until I had real blanket coverage for those feelings you mention. I'd also like to say this was 10 years ago, and I've been off them for years now, but they really worked for me.

Thank you, I will do that tomorrow!

Hello, I’m only on 10mg currently, I fear upping the dose in case it exacerbates the anxiety I already have because it’s awful. I have OCD and depression too so my obsessions and worries are consuming me!

It can take around a month for it to start working properly. My husband is on it and it took a full month till I noticed his behaviour becoming calmer and more positive :)

Hi Ellierosesmammy. I wish it wouldn’t have to take so long, it’s frustrating that taking meds for anxiety and depression can cause me to feel worse than what I felt before, wishing I hadn’t taken them!

I know, it's really frustrating but try and bare with it just two more weeks! :( I remember it being the same case when they put me on antidepressants for post natal depression x

Honestly it’s crippling! The first few days I was having repetitive panic attacks, heart palpitations, it was madness.

looking forward to feeling upright again!
