I lack the motivation to go out

I want to go out and about and to do interesting things on the weekends but I end up losing motivation, moping around the house. I end up so bored and frustrated. This has gone on for months now.

I suspect that I've got depression and do have dark thoughts sometimes, it gets worse when I'm on my period. I'm good at masking how I'm feeling with smiling a lot and having a laugh with work colleagues.

I want to be the type of person that gets up and does things and has more enthusiasm for living their life.

Have any of you had similar problems?

Yes OP I feel exactly the same. I was actually relieved this morning when it was snowing so I had an excuse to stay in.
The irony is I've spent the day ordering clothes online for upcoming occasions I probably won't go to.
Sorry no advice but I am thinking I probably need to speak to my doctor about it if it carries on.

Motivation is a false friend. It only comes once you take the tiny step forward to actually do something. Once you get started you then begin to feel motivated. Funny isn't it?
So if you want to get out of the house , tell yourself I am just going to put my shoes and coat on and step on the porch to feel the weather. That is all. And then see , once there, if you can maybe walk to the corner and back.

We put too much pressure on ourselves to be the perfect people we would like to be. Try to not be so hard on yourself. Accept the small goals and wins. Take it slowly, a step at a time and you will find you can do more than you first thought.
