Struggling

Any help appreciated
We've been or private renting our whole adult lives, since I was 18 and had our son who is now 13. We've been in current home for 6 years but the landlord wants the house back so has issues a s from 21. We are a low income family who receives UC, Im not working as I suffer from severe OCD, intrusive thoughts and compilations and severe anxiety which also causes depression. I don't really go out and my only outside time is usually spent in our garden. My husband does work part time but also has his own health struggles.
We can't afford private rent so have contacted the council who are in the middle of a 'homeless assessment' after I've sent them everything they need I'm awaiting a phone call (not sure what it's about)
My Dr wrote to them as she is worried that if I am evicted by bailiffs or put in a hotel it will be detrimental to my health and has required we are given a higher banding to enable us to bid on a property to try and make the changes easier for me to cope with.
It's been weeks since I sent them everything and I'm not eating or sleeping with worry and just wondered if anyone has any insight as to wether my Drs letter will help or is it most likely that we will be forced to wait for bailiffs still?
Seriously not coping at the moment and being in limbo not know what will happen is the worst feeling.
TIA x

The problem is that there is very very limited social housing in many areas and huge numbers of people with mental health issues. So whilst your GP letter might hold some weight with the council, there will be many others who are also getting their GP's or MH professional to write similar.
Are you getting other benefits you may be eligible for such as PIP ?

Thank you for replying...
I'm not on pip, I've never applied for it, I have suffered my whole life since childhood with OCD, seemed too near in my teens but then came back even worse after having my son...never thought I was entitled to it as I hear horror stories of people with serious physics illness not able to claim. I understand the social housing situation is really bad at the moment, I just don't know what we are going to do and thank her this goes on, the less I am able to cope with it. I didn't even ask my Dr when I had my check up with her she said she wanted to write it and then 2 days later they rung me to collect it. I don't think it will make much difference to our banding but would be nice to hear if anyone has experience with it...

I would apply for PIP. get some help completing the form. At least if awarded you would have a bit more money which could potentially help with rent etc.

Thank you, it means more than you could know, it feels as though know one cares or can help (which I know in the current social housing crisis they can't) and the council just don't seem to understand the way I'm feeling, they see it as well your not out on the street yet so it's fine, they don't take into account the toll it's having on me being stuck not knowing what's going happen...
