Hi. I just joined because I happened to see a post from a mom discussing her 12 year old son’s unwillingness to leave the house if his hair doesn’t look just right. I could’ve written this exact same post. I have a 12 year old son, diagnosed with Anxiety and newly diagnosed with ADHD, who also won’t leave the house if his hair doesn’t look right. If he doesn’t like it, he escalates really quickly, throws things, kicks walls, cabinets, screams and yells and says terrible things to all of us. He has missed school and been late several times due to his hair not looking like he wants it to. He just started meds for ADHD but dosage is still low. His hair is his hyper focus which I’m learning can be part of ADHD. It’s been terribly upsetting for all of us and I feel pretty hopeless most of the time now. I hope this mom sees my post.
