I could do with some support (health worries)

I'm going through some health concerns at the moment, and waiting for various tests etc.

My anxiety has fully taken over and I can't think about anything else. I've been signed off work and can't focus on anything whatsoever. It's draining and difficult for myself and my family.

I know I need to distract myself as obsessing is making everything worse. But I'm finding it difficult to get myself out of this mind frame.

Does anyone have any advice please?

When I have been waiting for potential life changing results .
I spoke with friends , charities other organisations .
I then had the mindset once I had advice from charities and organisations to be able to obsess at certain times of the day and try not to be consumed with thoughts ( easier I said than done ). I found walking helped .
Sending you a hug and positive vibes .

Thank you so much, your message was comforting :)

I'll definitely try that approach - I've cut off my friends somewhat as I haven't wanted to face anything.

Completely agree with walking - I've been enjoying evening walks when it's a bit quieter.

I had a period where I was waiting for biopsy results then when I got them it was months to see a consultant and find out more.

Self care self care self care.

Take information in controlled bite size chunks.

When I'd had the results I gave myself a goal (mine was couch to 5k as it was a structured program).

Also found myself making a 'reasons to be cheerful' list. It was quite wierd in terms of what it had on it but it was helpful.

Talk to support charities.

Sounds awful but I found it comforting to think about people in worse situations.

Let your emotions be whatever they are, it's natural to have whatever reactions you do.

Thank you! I especially like the idea of bite size chunks and goals as well - something to focus on without being too overwhelming. I hope all is well with you now.
