Hey guys , just looking some advice if anyone has been in a similar sitch, I was on citalopram around 15 years ago for about 4 years for PND & anxiety , was good for me weaned off ok then around 3.5 years ago started sertraline for same thing pnd&anxiety but doc suggested sertraline as safer in breast feeding. Anyway this week I decided I wanted to come of sertraline and back to citalopram as my sex drive had went to zero and my moods where pretty low and I was very adgitated a lot so I was on 100mg sertraline for about a year and tapered down to 50mg around a month ago but doc prescribed me 20mg citalopram and advised I make a straight switch the next morning which I done on Wednesday morning. However today (Saturday / day 4) I feel horrible I woke up with severe vertigo have felt nauseous, dizzy , cold/flu symptoms all day so super anxious can’t sleep or eat ! Rang out of hours they suggested it’s normal and push through but really hoping someone who has gone through this can help tell me if this will subside soon or have I made a mistake in changing or should I maybe lower the citalopram tmro to 10mg instead of 20? Will call docs when they reopen on Monday but any advice would be so welcome thank you x

I did a straight switch from sertraline to citalapram 5 weeks ago and I am still having side effects from the citalopram mine is 10 mg my doctor wants me to go to 15 tomorrow as I am sensitive to meds I am pushing thru as my doctors say it can take 6 to 8 week to feel the benefits of citalopram x

Aw thank you for ur response! I went down to 10mg today going to stay at that for a week and then go up to 20mg, today I haven't had any of the physical symptoms thankfully however my mood has been so sh1tty and low and feel teary and down so I'm hoping within a few days I'll start to feel better. When I first used citalopram a few years back I honestly felt so shit for about 4 weeks but when it kicked in I felt a load better so it's a rough ride at the start that's for sure! Sending hugs hope things settle soon for you too x
