I'm an adult and I don't look like I have anxiety...I come across as very calm.
However group situations where I may be on the spot and unprepared, or where there has been a change in the norm, I freeze, I go into fawn mode. I can go into mutism where I'm unable to express myself at all. I don't appear to lack social skills, I am very good at masking or putting them on. I get a lot of 'FOMO' feelings of being left out/missing people when I am away from them.
I am diagnosed with inattentive adhd and am possibly autistic- I tend to score 7 just over the 6 threshold.
Anyway! My question is where or how can I learn to overcome this specific social anxiety about speaking up in situations? Are there books?
