Hello, simple question. How does one know if they need a higher dose of sertraline or if it is just the wrong antidepressant?

You need to discuss the matter with your Psychiatrist.

Thanks for replying. I have done so. Their view is to go up a dose.

They weren't super clear on how/when he decides a particular med isn't working. They just said that as I'm nowhere near maximum dose we should try increasing first.

I want to hear from others who have been through this how they knew it wasn't the dosage that was wrong but the medication

What dose are you on and for how long have you been on it?

I’m going through this now. I’ve had to ‘sit tight’ with it for a long time (a couple of months) while I ride the initial bad side effects. I think I’m starting to feel the good side of it now. Just transitioning from 50mg to 75mg but taking it slow.

What dose are you on and how long have you been taking it?

@UpUpUpU @Mum23456
I was on 50 then went 75 a few weeks ago and now 100

50 I felt some initial weirdness. Nothing much. Bit sweaty. But the anxiety was still very present albeit very slightly less

Up to 75 I felt no change. No additional side effects no improvement

Now up to 100 for the past 3 days. Feeling the hot and sweaty thing again as I did when I first started the medication. Otherwise nothing new. But it is just 3 days in.

I'm kind of pleased I feel something even if it's slightly unpleasant as going up to 75 did absolutely nothing.

I am wondering though how I would know if the med was just the wrong one

I was on 50 for around 2 months. Then 75 for just 3 weeks but as I had no change or even side effects I was put up to 100 3 days ago

Sertraline didn’t work for me at all. I had good results with fluoxetine though
