Weight gain citalopram - can I lose it??

I started taking citalopram after being diagnosed with depression a few years ago after having my first LO and have noticed my weight go up and up despite being the healthiest I’ve been in a long time. My appetite hasn’t changed, I eat well (and better then I did), I exercise more and drink less so the only reason I can think of is that it’s due to the meds.

i’m thinking about coming off them as not sure I need them anymore and the weight is getting me down. However I’ve read mixed reviews about whether it’s even possible to lose the weight after - does anyone have any experience? I’m starting to feel really bad about myself so I think staying on them and the weight potentially creeping up higher is more risky to my mental health than coming off/down

TYIA for any help from a desperate mamma

I thought meds made you hungry so you ate more
I wasn't aware that a medication alone can make you put on weight (apart from steroids)

I’ve googled a lot over the past few months and there isn’t a great deal of research as to why this happens but a lot of people report it as a side effect even if their appetite hasn’t changed. If anything, I eat less than I did when I was depressed. And no longer binge crap and barely drink alcohol anymore. Many report the same so I can only think it must be the drug
