I started on Thursday 10mg, mornings are still incredibly hard with anxious and low mood. I can't even get up out of bed before 10/11am!

Has anyone been on these before that can offer some advice or experience please?

I started on 5mg and found that was enough for me. I was on it for a year. The doctor suggested starting there as I'd had trouble before that had meant I'd never actually managed to get on it as I had to give up due to side effects. I never went up to ten but I do think most people would need to.

Thank you for replying, I'm on 10mg just now. Its only been about 5 days or something. I've tried so many ssris etc before but they always pooped out. I just want to feel normal again if there is such a thing 🥹 how did it help with your anxiety? X

I'm on 20mg per day of escitalopram and it's transformed my life for the better.

I suffer from chronic PTSD and although I've had 12 years of 1-2-1 weekly therapy with a a forensic psychiatrist it wasn't until she put me on ecitalopram that my base mood started to change. It's the 4th or 5th antidepressant that I've been prescribed since c. 1998. The others weren't strong enough at low doses, but higher doses turned me into a sleepwalking cottonhead.

On escitalopram I need a few strong cups of coffee to get me going in the morning but after that I'm good for the rest of the day until I take my daily dose before bed.

It took about a month for the change to my mood to be noticeable.

Good luck OP: I hope it turns out to be the right one for you.
