I have been on Citalopram 40mg for 15 years.

It definitely dampens my emotions and l have read it does that to others too.

I am starting to think about dating again after being divorced for 7yrs.. but l just don't find anyone attractive or feel anything for anyone.

Could this be the Citalopram as I'm wondering if l need to reduce my dosage a little.

Hi OP,

I wasn’t on AD’s at the time due to not getting on with them but felt like this. After a lot of dates for many years eventually found someone where I felt that connection. Prior to that I felt dead inside that I felt nothing for on paper attractive blokes!

So I would try and be open to it and see what happens - you might surprise yourself! But after 15 years it’s worth speaking to your GP anyway about a change.

FWIW I found on sertraline I still have all the emotions but it helps me to bounce back quicker when I get down so I’m now on that one which works for me.

How old are you?

I take Citalopram, have done for about 8 years. I did find a higher dose, 20mg and over, dampens my ‘brain’ too much. I take 10mg and HRT daily and I feel practically normal.

Could it be peri related?
I feel that's answer's banded around a lot but the age fits.

But it could also be Citalopram. I take it too but am scared of coming off it.

I'm still on the combined contraception pill so l have been fortunate to so far be spared what a lot of my friends are experiencing. The other thing l get are night sweats...but that could also be the citalopram.

I have felt like this for years though so l don't think it is peri related. Although it would be good to reduce the dose and then see how l feel incase it is peri symptoms.
