Hi all - looking for some guidance and tips!!

just looking for some people who have a highly sensitive personality.

My doctor suggested it to me today when I saw him to talk about the medication I am on (50mg sertraline for anxiety) when he reeled off the traits it was like my exact personality anf it’s lifted a massive weight Off my shoulders knowing this!! I thought I was depressed but it seems I am crashing and burning every so often.

woild anyone be able to share some tips with me in how to cope with being a highly sensitive person?

There's a very good book by Dr Aron (I think) which helped me although I now suspect ADHD... 🤔

Yes, recognising it is helpful- but beware of the people who will shortly pop up to tell you that you aren’t special stop making a fuss.

I experience it as a mixture of heightened sensory and emotional experience. It’s exhausting. I’ve become ill as a result of not taking care of myself.

I suspect it’s a natural tendency coupled with vague trauma- hyper vigilance due to my mother’s behaviour.

You aren’t ’special and entitled’ to extra consideration, but you should pay attention to making sure you get enough rest, have quiet time where you aren’t overstimulated etc.
