Choosing how you feel

Has anyone mastered controlling their emotions and not allowing others to make you feel a certain way?

I'm experiencing some nastiness from family members and it is making me feel afraid, stressed and anxious.

I'd like to change my response so that they can say what they like and I maintain wellbeing. Any tips on how to do that would be welcome ❤️

Realizing that you can’t control what others think, say or do but that you can control how you react is a good start. No one “makes” you feel a certain way, that’s your response. Try practicing replies such as “that’s your view and you are entitled to it but I have my own opinion” or the catch-all “that’s interesting” then changing the subject.

@Eyesopenwideawake and if it's in written communication?

Ignore it. No stronger message than silence.

I like the mantra 'their comments say everything about them and nothing about me'.
