How much can I disclose?

Hey all,
I am currently undergoing therapy for traumas I experienced during childhood, a lot of it involves being physically abused by my mother as she used to hit me etc. Am I able to disclose this to my therapist without authorities being notified etc? For context I am a young adult mid 20s living in the UK and I do currently live with her as I am in between houses for a bit and it’s looking like it’s not going to be until autumn I am able to move out again but she does not hit me any more and I don’t think she has since my childhood in all honesty.
(would also like to clarify I do not currently have any children so no children are in harm with me currently living with her)
thanks for reading
Viv x

Yes you can she would only make a report if you were in danger in those circumstances.

Your therapist will only have to make a disclosure of there’s an imminent risk of harm to you or anyone else

Check with your therapist what her contract conditions are regarding disclosing historical abuse, it varies from therapist to therapist. But I think it would be very unlikely that she would report your mother.

Sorry this happened. To me too. How old were you, may I ask?

Am unsure re your query, but I feel it’s unlikely based on my own experience
