Why does a 2mg diazepam make me anxious but 5mg doesn't

I have no idea. I have a friend though who 2mg and 5mg had no effect whatsoever on them, moved up to 10mg and had horrifying anxiety after taking it and ended up in a&e in crisis.

I've only ever taken the 2mg and tbh it's only been recently I've ever tried them and it works to take the edge off.

Tremors is a common side effect of diazepam according to the NHS website.

Diazepam of whatever strength only lasts for about an hour maximum. This might be why after an hour you start to get the shakes. Also, having been on diazepam for many years (5mg, taken when needed) I tend to find that on a day I’ve taken it I get a kind of rebound anxiety when it wears off.

Yes that's exactly how it made me feel the first hour was great then I got my self settled then it made me jittery

Looking for some advice on whether it's ok to take Nytol (the 50mg one-a-night) or Phenergan after 2mg of diazepam. Hoping someone may have experience of this. Thank you

Mitchell35 · 06/09/2024 07:28

I think it would depend on how long ago you taken the diazepam maybe give the pharmacy a call see what they say I always do that when am unsure
If you done mind me asking I was given phenergran I haven't dared tried them how do you find them

I think it's ok - I've been prescribed both phenergan and diazepam for sleep issues and dr knows I take both.

I have taken both on occasion and haven't had any side effects. That said, someone else (not a doctor) told me that phenergan isn't ok to be taken long term.

Diazepam didn't do anything for me, really disappointed in it, it was the 5mg version.

Sleeplessness was my major issue, and I was given a short course of Temazapan which was bloody brilliant...scary how well it did its job!
