CT head scan after years of meds

I've been on fluoxetine since the late 1990s (diagnosed with depression as a teen) and olanzapine since 2012.

Recently my memory has been worse and they have referred me for a memory clinic assessment. As part of this they ordered a CT head scan and it has shown up mild cortical atrophy.

I'm wondering if it might be related to the meds or age or could be start of dementia (I do have a family history). I'm 47.

Just wondered if anyone has had similar. I've been told I will be on the meds for life.

Sorry to hear that you are going through this, and I hope that some more people will be able to come on here with more practical advice. I just wanted to say best of luck and all the best.

My memory is worse in recent years and do have family history of dementia also

Don't want to scare anyone as this might just be normal ageing or something else

It's a bit of a worry isn't it. They have taken me off another med, nortryptilline which I had for pain, and the GP said about it being a balancing act sometimes

Thanks, I will. 20 week wait for the memory clinic bit they have said they will put me on a cancellations list. GP says he 'thinks the scan is normal'.
