Family member with long history of psychosis. Paranoid and gets violent with family - extremely reclusive except with family, where they get very paranoid and violent.
They went on holiday to the Canaries with another family member (mum) and are now refusing to leave. They've just cancelled their phone contract yesterday. They don't speak the language, they don't know anyone there.

They've previously been sectioned for a month for an escalation of similar behaviour.

Whole family are extremely stressed and feel very helpless. Mental health team say they can't do anything as family member stopped engaging a year ago.

Just looking for insight really. Our elderly mum is hysterical with worry.

Could you call their travel insurer for assistance? It might be tricky though if you don't know who it is, and if they didn't declare the condition ☹️

I doubt they even got travel insurance.

Your only option tbh is to fly out there and see if you can convince her/him to go home or seek local treatment.
A travel insurance can assists if her/he has one but often these patients don't have one.
