New sertraline user question

Hi all. I’ve just been prescribed sertraline to try and help with some mild depression and anxiety symptoms

im on a 50mg dose to start with, with a review booked in for 4 weeks time.

I understand the importance of taking the medication at the same time each day, and was advised to start off taking in the morning initially, rather than at night.

however, because of a very irregular work pattern there isn’t a time that I could take the tablet each morning at the same time, before lunchtime (12:30)

does anybody else take theirs around lunchtime?

I've been taking Sertraline for 10 years now. I do try and take it at the same time as it helps me to remember to take it but usually I just take it when I can. I think the main thing is to make sure you take it every day as missing doses can cause your depression and anxiety to get worse, believe me I speak from experience!
If you can take it at the same time (or roughly the same) that's great but as long as you're taking it daily that's the main thing x

Thank you.

tomorrow is my first day, and I’m both scared and excited if that makes sense?

im just trying to remind myself that its all part of a bigger plan to find me again, so a little bit of a rough ride will be worth it in the end!

It does make a difference taking Ng at night you will probably end up awake. That's a new of the main reasons for morning. I have taken for many years at breakfast time tho on a much higher dose. Hope it works out for you

I've been on sertraline since 2016.

I used to take it bang on time at 10:00AM. Over the years, the time I have taken it has shifted from morning to night a few times.

I can't say it made any difference to my sleep, etc.

One thing I have learned is that if I forget to take it, even many hours later, I will take it instead of waiting for the next dose. For me, when I have skipped a dose and it's been say, close to 24h, it made me feel a strange lightheadedness.

It is fine to take at lunch time, one of the reasons they advise you take it in the morning is because it can cause sleep disturbance, which is amplified if you take the medication before bed :-)
