Anxious and breath holding

Hi mums, I was wondering if anyone else was in the same boat. I have had anxiety for a long time many years and I'm almost 12 weeks postpartum.I have found that when I'm anxious I hold my breath... this has only been the case for a couple of years now but when I'm busy, anxious, stressed or feeling just all up tight I hold my breath and sometimes don't realise until I start going dizzy and feel like I'm going to fall. Does anyone have any experience of this? It's really getting to me. I'm going to book in with my GP

Yes, I do this – only realise I'm holding my breath when I go dizzy! I consciously talk myself through deep in and out breathing when I realise this is starting to happen. There is also medication you can get from the GP to help you feel calmer. I hope you feel better soon.
