MHTR

Has anyone here (or know of someone) ever been subject to a Mental Health Treatment Requirement (MHTR)?
What form did it take, and what was the timescale?
A friend of mine has been recommended this by his probation officer as part of a PSR, but it all seems a bit confusing.

Thanks in advance.

Yes they’re brand new and they’re actually really good! They’re delivered by NHS staff and I think they’re clinical psychologists who only deliver MHTR. All the people on probation that have received them have said they’re really helpful, especially with the NHS being the way it is! The lady that I supervise that has one has weekly appointments for 6 months at our probation office. As it’s confidential, we only receive basic information about what has been done in the session. The only bad thing is they’ve struggled to recruit staff in our area.

Thank you @Idratherbepaddleboarding
I had no idea there were a new thing. I have been in group therapy before were some people admitted that they were forced to be there by the probation service, and others had to go so they could visit their children in a contact centre.
My friend already has a lot of input from the charity sector of MH services, and his probation officer has told him that he wont be able to attend them when he start the MHTR... which makes no sense as it is mostly peer support groups that he attends.
He is due to be sentenced next week, but it is a worry still as to what will happen on the day.

Yes we can instruct them to attend things as part of their order or licence conditions but the MHTR is court ordered. It does seem silly for him not to be able to go to any other sessions though and I doubt that would be enforceable. Has his probation officer made any other recommendations or just that?

Hi, just thought I would post an update.
My friend was sentenced, and ordered to have 12 sessions under a MHTR. This was back in May, and he has only just had a joint appointment with the provider and his probation officer (staff shortage issues).
He goes to several groups at the local Mind, and has been told he can no longer attend. This was a joint decision with both Mind and the Turning Point (who are doing his treatment). Most of the Mind sessions are just chatting with people and playing bingo or doing colouring.
He is autistic, and already very isolated. He got overwhelmed during this joint appointment and walked out.
