Mental Health during Cycle

I currently have anxiety and PTSD from a traumatic health scare in Nov/Dec. I have made such great progress since then. On propranolol for my physical symptoms, straight after I was taking them 3 times a day now use them as and when I need them.. Sometimes not even one a week. I'm so proud. However, when my period arrives I feel like I have no control, I'm so emotional - on the verge of tears whenever I talk to anyone, anxious, no appetite. Is anyone else the same? Can anyone recommend any other supplements/vitamins I can take? Or just any advice please, would be so appreciated.

Hi @Friedseasalt I can definitely relate, although I normally get really tearful and emotional around ovulation. I’ve recently gone back on the pill to try and stop the fluctuation of hormones that comes with a cycle. Has this always been the case for you when you get your period or is it only since your recent trauma?

I think most people experience a lot of those symptoms around their period but maybe yours are just heightened at the moment because of the pre-existing anxiety? Not sure how old you are but I’m 41 and definitely feel so much more anxious than I ever use to, hormones have a lot to answer for!! X

I’m on antidepressants for PND but I also take daily vitamin d and b for my mood ☺️
