Citalopram 20mg not enough anymore?

I've been taking Citalopram 20mg since 30th October last year for depression and anxiety. For a good amount of time it has worked well. The side effects when I started weren't pleasant but they were short lived.

The last week or so I've not been sleeping as well as I have been and feels like I'm slipping back into my old ways. My husband said I've been a bit snappy too which I haven't been like since mid November ish.

I could feel like I was having a bit of a low day today from the minute I woke up and when I was on the school run in the afternoon I went light headed, felt nauseous and felt like I was going to burst into tears. I was desperate to get home but felt like I was swimming through mud. Is this a panic attack?

Would the doctor be likely to increase my dosage? Or is it worth riding it out a bit to see if it gets better?

Difficult to say but my dh has been on 40mg for the last 3 years and found that’s the dose that works best for him and he wants to stay on that permanently.

Definitely go back to your gp, it could well be the dosage needs adjusting. Have you consider any form of counselling to work alongside the medication as this might be beneficial? xx

I've started talking therapies this last week, it took this long to get seen even though I was referred when I started my meds.

I just feel "off". I can't even sit and read, my concentration is shot to bits.

I started on 20mg around the same time as you and i made an appointment last week to review the dose as i felt the exact same as before i started them. They upped me to 30mg and after 28 days ill increase to 40mg. Worth making an appointment as i had the dip aswell and felt the same as you.

@Imamumgetmeoutofhere could there be a connection between the talking therapy and how you're feeling? It's worth taking time to think about it, because it might not be obvious if a link exists

@spookehtooth you are probably right of course but I'm scared I'm going to get as low as I was before so think I need some help before it gets worse
