I've got health anxiety, I'm always in high alert for any signs of anything in my body going wrong. And if i find anything scary i go down a rabbit hole of absolute panic.

Its no way to live. I have propranolol 10mg and i take a couple sometimes when im feeling extra worried/scared/uptight. But i dont take it regularly as im scared to get addicted to it. My gp told me i can use it now and then when i feel luke i need it, but my colleague has an 85mg propranolol tablet she takes that is slow release and does her all day. She swears by it.
Does anyone here take that?
Any information/advice would really help me, thank you.

I take propranolol 40 mg up to three times a day as needed. I usually take one first thing and then take another later if I am going out anywhere just so I know I won’t feel panicky. It works really well for me. Sometimes I take it three times a day if I need it. Hope you find something that works for you. I have never been concerned about addiction with it so try not to worry about that.

I take 40mg in the am and 40mg in the pm for migraine prevention but I do also suffer health anxiety. The GP said this dosage should help keep that in check. Tbh I have been on it for a few years so I would probably only know it was working for anxiety if I stopped taking it as I am used to the constant low level fear I live with iyswim? I have occasional spirals when something happens (mine is linked to emetophobia) but not like I used to! So it must do something! And it prevents my migraines as long as I take it at the same time etc. It’s great for me, no noticeable negative side effects either.

I take 40mg 3-4 a day. I’ve been on them about 10 years. During this time the doctor took me off them for a while, I had no problems coming off them, no withdrawal symptoms etc, no addiction. Hope this helps

Thank you everyone

I got prescribed the 40mg 3 times a day today. The dr says they dont cause addiction. Will see how it goes.

I've taken 2 x 40mg per day for about -5 years now. Mine is also for migraine prevention, but was also used initially for anxiety (was also prescribed anti depressants but the doc said "see if the beta blockers work first before starting the antidepressants", and they did).

I did try to lower my dose a few months back but the migraines increased, suspect I'll be on them for life!
