I think I am having an anxiety attack

I feel really panicky
I have worked this morning and I planned to do some paperwork this afternoon, DH has gone off to work.
I sat there and I had an unbelievable sense of doom and panic. There is a heaviness in my chest ( not radiating, no sweating, pulse ok but missing beats). Not breathless.

I have put my pyjamas on, turned on the electric blanket, put on shitty telly and got into bed.

I feel like I am trembling - right in my core. It's odd.

I have been poorly, I ended a five day course of prednisolone recently so I wonder ( even though this was a short course) whether this was it.

Just odd

Hope it goes soon

How are you feeling now OP? Do you normally have panic attacks?

ColinRobinsonsFart · 06/03/2024 18:27

I am feeling a bit better thanks.
I am still in bed. Chest is less heavy but still got fluttering.

I do get anxious and feel 'doomy' regularly but I usually shrug it off / get through it.

I have not worked for over a week because I have had this bug/chestthing/exacerbation of my asthma and I am still physically frail.

Thank you btw - I wrote my post to just let it out iykwim.

I am going to say hell to the washing up and stay in bed/ drink some warm milk.
No children as they are grown up so I can do the above.

I'm going through exactly the same. I feel if I could have a good cry it would help!

Maybe we should watch Marley & Me or something similar.
In all seriousness though I completely sympathise with how you're feeling. I've had anxiety for as long as I can remember but this episode is the worst it's been in years. I just can't shake the feeling of doom that you described. And I feel the more I think about it the worse it gets.

I have just had some hot milk and a square of very dark chocolate. Binge watched Clean it fix it and managed to rinse the dishes ready for tomorrow morning.
Sent a message to DH to call me when he gets a minutes break - I will feel better if I hear his voice.

Trying very hard to not go on to Amazon and spend money!

Sending you virtual milk and chocolate 🍫

My husband is working away just now and working nights so I barely hear from him. I work from home so feeling a bit alone just now. Visiting my mum and sister on Friday though so that'll keep me going.
I might copy your idea of warm milk and chocolate. That sounds very comforting.
