Quetiapine - I am worried!

Hello all, just looking for some advice and/or experiences with Quetiapine.
I have been prescribed 100mg per day of quetiapine after visiting the GP about severe anxiety, stress and depression.
After reading up about the medication, I feel like this isn't the right drug for me, it seems that the conditions it's used to treat don't fit what I am experiencing.
Has anyone else been prescribed for similar issues and can share their experience?
I picked the pills up from the pharmacy today but haven't taken any as yet.

I felt the same when I was first prescribed it (for the same things as you), but it worked wonderfully and after a year I felt so much better I was able to come of it. It's been several years since and I never needed it again.

Yes its commonly prescribed for psychosis and related conditions and didn't fit with my DDs symptoms at all. She was prescribed in in conjunction with an Antidepressant.

I take it but I have bipolar. It's worked well for me and no side effects other than making me tired which has got better over time. I know sometimes it's prescribed for depressive symptoms. All I would say is I started on a much smaller dose and it really knocked me for six - starting at 100mg straight away would have been a lot for me, but everyone is different.

I hope you're feeling better soon

It is often prescribed off label at lower doses for things like anxiety and sleep issues.
If someone was on it for psychosis, it would be a much higher dose.

I have been on it for 12 years. I have bipolar but it's main use for me has been as an antidepressants or anti anxiety as antidepressants often make me manic.

It's one of those meds that works differently at different doses. For me around 300mg is as a maintenance antidepressants. It helps keep my sleep in a good place and takes the edge off anxiety. This action would be also seen at slightly lower doses. When I need it for antimanic and for psychosis the dose has to increase to 600-800mg. So quite a bit higher than it's anxiety and antidepressants doses.

For me it gave me stability when I didn't have much and allowed me to complete my PhD. My bipolar mostly manifests as depression and anxiety.

I was on it for about 6 months, 800mg mainly, it made me gain like 40kg in that time, I basically craved carbs. I was so ill I didn’t notice I’d gained weight. It did absolutely nothing for me.

even lower doses can make you feel hungry, so I would just watch that.
