How do you all cope?

Hi Ladies! Help! I recently had a baby... It wasn't the smoothest pregnancy in the world, it was difficult to say the least. I've been mentally struggling to accept changes in my body, but I got over that now. Now I am finding myself struggling with postpartum depression and difficulty to bond with my baby. I am just feeling so hopeless and there's lack of information out there. I feel so alone!! Please tell me if you've experienced it? And if yes, how did you cope? It feels like I've exhausted all available options......

Hey op, I had my baby in March 2020 so he was a proper lock down baby. It was hard! I definitely had PND undiagnosed as we had no support. I've got other issues like ocd too so the way I cope now is using meds and having cbt therapy. It's not the answer for everyone but it's what gets me through. Sending best wishes

Hi

Congratulations on your baby. I'm sorry to hear about your struggles during pregnancy.

Think it's fair to say everyone struggles during pregnancy and for some, it's hits harder postpartum (including me).

What helped me the most as I had a winter baby is to get out to soft plays with him every day or even a short walk. Being cooped up did nothing for my mental health.

I also tried to have to some time alone when family/partner would have the baby. I understand not everyone has this opportunity.

Try doing some form of exercise, for me that was trying to get back to swimming.

Hth. Don't give up, it gets better.

So sorry to hear your struggles and thank you! Are you doing CBT through NHS OR privately? Glad to know it's helping you.

Thanks for your response! I definitelu struggle with being cooped up, I will try to increase exercise and overall activity.
