PROPANOLOL 80MG RESTING HEART RATE

Hiya I am on 80mg of propanolol and have been for some time (maybe 6 years) originally I was on it for migraine but it wasn't helping then they gave it to me for anxiety. recently I've noticed heart flutters and tightness in my chest -more so than usual so I started monitoring my HR. it got up to 138 today after just doing some washing up etc. and resting at the minute it doesn't go below 80. Could anyone give any advice or have any knowledge why this may be happening whilst on 80mg of propanolol....?

No idea, mine plummeted! You'll have to phone the gp

Propranolol lowers your heart rate. You should see a doctor.

It ought to lower your heart rate or at least keep it low - I take maximum 90mg daily and my average HR went from 100 to 90. Drink lots of water and see your GP soon?

How are you monitoring it OP? I find that mine goes above 180 bpm when I’m strolling according to my Fitbit. I’m assuming the Fitbit is wrong otherwise I’m on the verge of death 😀

Its not the propranalol. You should get that checked

My resting HR is around 56 on propranolol, same dosage and have been on it years. OP please call your GP as it lowers your HR not increases it.

I have an Oximeter at home - so I used that. I definitely think your fit bit needs a new battery lol! 🤣

I only take 10-20mg propanolol a day and it makes my resting heart rate drop down into the 50s. Yeah I'd see a doctor, it's supposed to do the opposite of what it's doing to you?

I rang Gp this morning, she had me in for heart trace and check up, she said that it's most likely due to anxiety.... I'm on propanolol for my anxiety so I don't know how that works🤷‍♀️
