Leaving Instagram

I am thinking about deactivating my Instagram account. I stopped posting photos last year as I always got a pang of anxiety when I did so. Of an evening sometimes I will sit and scroll endlessly - it's such a time thief! Also hard not to compare yourself to others. I think the one thing that kept me on there is the social connection but my real friends have my number!! Has anyone quit and how does it feel? Looking for inspiration from those who have left it behind for the better. Thanks 😊

In Sept 2023 I gave up Instagram, tiktok and watching/reading the news. They were all bad for my mental health. I do miss tiktok but definitely not the news or insta. I kept my Facebook as I have family in America on there that I like to stay in touch with and Facebook on its own is enough of a time thief but I was willing to try and limit my time on it. I say go for it!

I quit Twitter about 3 weeks ago and don't miss it. I find Insta less toxic as I follow quite nice accounts of artists and animal accounts. Twitter seemed to push horrific arguments between people politically and really terrible videos of people being harmed. I didn't seek these out. I can only assume the algorithm is very odd or some accounts are paying to be pushed. It's awful and wasn't doing me any good.

Just deleted FB and IG recently. I feel relief.
