Fluoxetine/prozac - anxiety dosage

I’ve been taking fluoxetine (20mg)since last June. I decided to stop earlier this year and then several stressful events happened and I started taking it again a few weeks ago. I suffer from ocd/self doubt/checking/not believing what I see and overthinking.
I’ve tried counselling, hypnotherapy & cbt - none makes a difference.
what the best dose of fluoxetine for these issues? Would something else be better?
TIA 😊

Isn’t this something you should discuss with your GP?

You’d be best off taking to whoever prescribed it. They could also advise on other therapies that could help. I did find CBT helpful but you need to keep practising.

Yes am awaiting an appointment but it will probably be at least a month. Just hoping to hear about others’ experiences.

My gp said he usually leaves it a month before upping if the patient wants too. I've upped every month and now on 60mg. I needed all the help I could get though x

@Helplessandheartbroke hope the higher dose has helped you 🤞 Can I ask if you suffer from anxiety or depression?

Thanks op. I'm certainly better than I was. I suffer with ocd and general anxiety and recently grief too after losing my dog its been a rough road. Have you been offered cbt? X

I went from 20mg to 40mg when my anxiety was bad a couple of years ago. It did really help.

I came back down to 20mg last year when I was feeling better and then very slowly came off it over 3 months l.

Good luck!

@UpUpUpU thank you. Glad it worked for you.

@Helplessandheartbroke I’m pleased it helped you. Yes, tried cbt, counselling & hypno- none of it works.

@Wondering73 maybe you came off them too soon. Try some mindful things too like breathing techniques and taking some me time. Nice hot bubble baths, going for walks, reading etc x

I find 20 works well but it takes a while, maybe over 6 weeks to get back into my system if I stop taking it.
