I really feel for you. I have the same, but it’s not so much when I fall asleep as when I wake up between 2-4am and first thing in the morning. It’s truly a horrible, tight feeling.
Two things have helped me: Trazodone and, bear with me, lavender pillow mist. The latter sounds daft but it really helps to relax me and allows me to drift off to sleep. I’d recommend Feather & Down.

Have you discussed a sleep aid medication with your doctor such as Trazodone? For me, that has been the most effective. A few side effects, yes, but I’m far more relaxed about 20 minutes after taking it, and that allows me to fall asleep.
Try the pillow mist, you might be surprised. And calming night teas also do help. Small helps, but better than nothing.

  • stop drinking any caffeine at all
  • get more exercise and fresh air in the day
  • seek out a therapist
  • download a mindfulness or breathwork app and try this before bed
  • get your hormone levels checked at the gp
  • make sure you're not low on iron
