Hi! This is my first time posting so please bear with me.
I've been claiming UC and working as a relief support worker but it's really affecting my mental health. I'm a single mum to a 12yr old. I was told at interview that they could definitely give me 25 hours but as they've taken on more contracted staff I haven't been getting the hours I need which has lead to stress, anxiety and depression. I have a sick note that runs out tomorrow 6th Feb and I'm planning to resign from my position of relief worker. I also have a new job lined up but it doesn't start until 18th march. Should I just resign now and get another sick note for two weeks and then tell UC my plans or should I hold off resigning until nearer the time my new job starts? I'm really worried about getting sanctioned but my mental health is suffering bcos of this job. Tia

I'd get a fit note, if your mh is shot to pieces being in a situation you are struggling with is going to make it worse. UC can be a bit funny about fit notes over months on end but you are wanting to work and not that far off starting your new job.
Look after yourself, your dc needs mum fit and well. Take the pressure off for awhile and good luck with the new job.
