Becoming more unsocialable

Why are people annoying me more than usual? I need a sign that says please just tell me the essential, no stories or small talk rambling. Just the essential. Sometimes people stop talking & I want to ask “what do you need” or “what is your question?”
people randomly tell me about their sister they don’t get along with or ask me how my family is even though they don’t even know what family I have.
luckily I have time off work soon! Socially overwhelmed- is that a thing?

Is this a new thing for you or have you previously disliked small talk? It’s not an issue if that is the case, just curious.

I can sympathise with where you are coming from - when you say ‘what is it you want?’ This reflects a feeling that everyone seems to want something and in the past you may have sorted it, but now you are done.

Sometimes I just tell people that I need my own space / time inside my own head.
I dont kow if it is an age thing or just I have heard it all before. Happy to talk at other social times but not constantly and about complete rubbish. Perhaps after covid and social media people have forgotten how to respect boundaries and give others a break - just a thought

Enjoy your me time

I completely understand. I've always enjoyed the company of my ponies and cats. As I get older I find I can tolerate people less and less. I'm quite happy with my own company.
