Hi I suffer terribly with panic disorder so been finding it really hard to sleep can only explain is that I need to cough to get my breath back last no more than a second happens every night so doctors have given me 3.5 zopiclones I halfed it as I am scared of side effects and it made me sleepy but anxious just wondering if anyone else as had the same problem do I need to take the full 3.5

I haven’t taken it for a while but this used to be my miracle drug for resetting my body clock and helping me to get some sleep- which is a struggle due to a chronic condition I have. It used to knock me out very quickly, perhaps because you’ve halved the dose it hasn’t been as effective? It may be worth talking to your doctor again if you’re worried about the side effects.

You've been given a half-dose anyway. Halving it again means it's not going to do much for you.

I used it a couple of times when my sleep was non-existent due to mental health problems. It worked brilliantly for me. A ‘reset’ as a PP said.

I take 7.5mg and I get a good night sleep, but I don’t wake up feeling sedated. Speak to your doctor if you have reservations but it is much better than some of the other sleep aids where you wake up feeling half dead.

Mitchell35 · 27/01/2024 01:54

I have taken them in the past and had brilliant results just this time round but I did half it due to this fear of a bad reaction I am my own worst nightmare

It's a total bitch when the symptom latches on to the very thing you need to deal with the symptom. Bloody mental health problems. Some days I regret ever getting mine Grin

Hope you can get some rest tonight.

HeyItsMeImTheProblem · 27/01/2024 10:16

I was on 7.5mg of zopiclone for several weeks last year. The priority right now for you is sleep. Get a good few nights in and you'll feel so much better. 3.75 wasn't strong enough for me.

Mitchell35 · 27/01/2024 10:41

I will try the full dose to night see how I go I really hope it's because I halfed it

3.5 didn't work for me at all, 7.5 did. I was actively suicidal when prescribed 3.5 and the doctors exact words were 'even if you take them all it won't kill you'. You really don't need to stress over one 3.5 tablet. Take the whole one and hopefully it'll work and you can get some sleep

Mitchell35 · 27/01/2024 10:50

Thank you

It's not a high dose. You will be fine.

Menomeno · 27/01/2024 10:56

Take the full dose, and make sure you take it when you’re in bed and ready to sleep. I find that if I take it and then keep watching tv, scrolling on my phone etc it doesn’t work. If I take it, lie down and close my eyes then it does work.

Mitchell35 · 27/01/2024 10:57

I will try this to night thank you so much

This is a baby dose. 3.75 is very low. Personally I’d take 2 but I’m a bit carefree like that. I accidentally gave one of my children 15mg of zoplicone one night when he was about 7 or 8!

yes we spent the night in hospital, nope he was completely unharmed.

QueenBitch666 · 27/01/2024 15:50

I take 3.75mgs in emergency insomnia situations and it works really well. I wake up slightly woozy the next morning with the 'Zopiclone' taste in my mouth but that goes fairly quickly. You'll be fine Flowers

Mitchell35 · 24/04/2024 06:51

I finally started my zopiclones they work for about 4 hours they r only the 3.75 should I increase the dose also I getting strange dreams is this normal first starting them will this go away

Thats a low dose. You will be fine taking the whole tablet. I was prescribed much higher than that. Worked really well apart from an awful after taste

Allwatchedoverbytrees · 16/08/2024 13:57

Yes zopiclone is more for sending you to sleep than keeping you asleep. They aren't as long lasting as some other medications so talk to your doctor if that's not what you wanted from them and you could try a different med.
I wanted them to fall asleep rather than to keep me asleep iyswim so I liked them.

MsGoodenough · 16/08/2024 20:05

This sounds amazing! What do you have to say to the Dr to get this prescribed? I'm only ever offered anti-histamines which don't work and I'm losing my mind.
