Hi, I am a single mum and have 7yr old daughter. My tenancy ends in a few months. I don't want to sign a new tenancy here because this place makes me depressed. Ive been diagnosed with depression and anxiety, I am on meds now. I am wondering if I make homeless application would I be considered as intentionally homeless in this case?
I can't stay here and don't have anywhere else to go.
Has anyone been in similar situation?

Thanks for advice

You would be making yourself intentionally homeless in this situation.
You can apply for housing but are unlikely to be high on the list, it is still worth finding out what your situation would be though.

Anyone else in similar circumstances?

I know of someone in avery similar position. He has been told that yes, he can join the housing list and bid but will be very low down x

Also they usually ask for evidence to support this. As pps said you won’t be high up

Thanks for answers. I don't want to apply for housing register. My tenancy ends in a few months and I am going to make a homeless application but I am not sure if the council consider this as intentionally homeless? I have supporting evidence from my GP regarding my depression.

Yes you would be considered intentionally homeless.

I'm afraid being diagnosed with depression will have zero impact on the application. A huge % of people are medicated for depression these days. I know more people on anti-depressants than not.

You will need to go through the correct channels, apply to join the housing register, and wait your turn on the list, which may be several years depending on where you live.

If you choose to not renew your contract or look for somewhere else to live you will certainly be classed as intentionally homeless.
