Sertraline in pregnancy

I’m on 50mg of sertraline and 12 weeks pregnant. GP wanted me back each month so I only had a 28 day prescription. I went back intending to ask for a dose increase as I am currently struggling to work and using up my AL trying to keep my head above water.

Different GP. He asked if I was suicidal or thinking of hurting myself and I said no. Then he said ‘let’s gets you off sertraline then!’ and I literally shouted ‘no’!

No discussion of how I felt, nothing like that. Entire consultation was under 3 mins. I do now have 50mg of sertraline and 2x 28days packets. How stupid would it be for me to up my own dose? I am desperate.

Ask for a referral to the perinatal team to get some proper medication advice as not all GPS keep up to date and the prescribing practice for a long list of mental health meds had their prescribing changes from "only if necessary" to "safe"

Don't increase your meds on your own. Do you have a midwife yet?
