OCD Fear

I have OCD, particularly about safety things.

This is going to sound ridiculous but I touched something in a cupboard that was near a bleach cleaning spray. I then touched the fridge freezer. I'm now terrified that whoever opens the fridge might get bleach spray on the food and get ill.

I'm going over in my mind if I got any bleach spray on my hands or not.

I'm overthinking things and being crazy right?

I don't have OCD ( have a close relative who has) and my answer to you is 'yes, you're overthinking things.'

The bleach is in a container. The bleach is therefore contained.

However, as you have OCD, you will doubt what I've said and you will, already have wiped the fridge freezer.

Therapy is the only way to get a handle on this thinking.

I have OCD and this train of thought is absolutely not rational, but I understand how it's happened and I'm sorry you're now obsessing.
I try different techniques that sometimes help if you're interested in them. One is brain dumping, get a piece of paper and write down every thought related to this topic that you're having even if it repeats over. Rip the paper into tiny pieces and throw it away. It helps get it out of your brain a little. The second thing I try that sometimes helps is repeating "this is not logical, I don't need to react" like a mantra as many times as possible. Meditation and distraction also help.
