Hello all ,
Due to the ongoing stress of my marriage breakdown and divorce I have become and anxious and depressed. The doctor prescribed 10mg of Escitalopram but as I had strong side effects after the first two tablets for the last two days I have gone to 5mg ( I can still feel some sickness and dizziness but much better ) is anyone else on 5mg ? The doctor said a low dose does make a difference for some people .

I’ve been on 5mg for the last week. I have previously found that going straight onto 10mg was too much for me, and it’s better to gradually increase the dose. I think 5mg is pretty minimal, and 10mg is a pretty standard dose. I was previously taking 20mg which worked really well for me, so I’m hopeful that it will work just as well once I’ve increased it up! How long have you been on 5mg for?

I was prescribed this. The GP warned me about possible gut problems and told me to stick with it. I did as I was told and was subsequently admitted to hospital with vomiting and dizziness. I was also shivering violently.

Thanks for the replies . @Manyandyoucanwalkover that must have been very scary for you . I had two days of 10mg but it was too much as I couldn’t function so I dropped to 5mg for the last three days , I still have nausea but very mild . On 10mg I felt really drugged yp , my jaw was jittering ! I am hoping 5mg still makes a difference ..
