Panic attack

I was just sat quite happily, watching a movie and all of a sudden I got this searing pain in my left side chest kind of more towards my collarbone. This obviously triggered me because then straight away my heart started pounding out of my chest, so hard and so fast, I started shaking, being sick, just a feeling of terror. It felt like my heart was going to explode. I've since managed to calm myself down and feel slightly better. The pain is not there the same as it was, and tbh I have be n struggling with this kind of pain, my doctor says Costcochondritis when I had a similar pain last year so maybe it is back? And this was just a panic attack? Ive calmed myself down now but a little.niggle in my brain is telling me it's a heart attack. I'm 31 and a long time anxiety sufferer especially health anxiety but I don't often have full blown panic attacks like this.

I've just done a search of panic attacks and your post came up OP. I just wanted to say I was also diagnosed with Costcochondritis and sent home only to discover via CT a week later a large clot on my lung (pulmonary embolism). Your symptoms sound exactly the same and because my chest Xray and observations (heart) were fine they ignored my d dimer blood test which was high. Please do go and get this checked, specifically for a PE as women are woefully badly under diagnosed and the sooner they are caught the better. Once they rule out a high d dimer you can relax, but please don't let them fob you off as they did with me.

I now get panic attacks due to partial lung function if I have to catch my breath, which is why I was trying to get advice on calming measures.

Sorry if this alarms you at all, I didn't want to read and run when it was so similar to my recent experience.
